Ancient and Masonic Order of the Scarlet Cord

Scarlet CordThe 21st of July 2010 marked a historic and significant date in the history of British Freemasonry. On that day, the Scarlet Cord was Inaugurated at Freemasons’ Hall, Great Queen Street, London, the first new Masonic order in the British Isles in almost 75 years.

The full title of the new Order is the Ancient and Masonic Order of the Scarlet Cord and it was originally set up in the early part of the 20th Century for the provision of Charity. The full History of the Order, written by Most Worthy Brother Peter Glyn Williams, Past Grand Supreme Ruler of the Order of the Secret Monitor, is reproduced on the Scarlet Cord website.

Candidates for the Ancient and Masonic Order of the Scarlet Cord must be Master Masons and Princes (2nd Degree) of the Order of the Secret Monitor.

The Merevale Consistory 26TI was consecrated at Atherstone on the 16th January 2010, with Dist Comp Kenneth B Maycock as its Founding President.

The Consistory meets at the Atherstone Masonic Hall on

  • 2nd Friday in May
  • 2nd Friday in October
